Flight Deck And Paddy McGowans

We’ve got a two for one here on this episode of Faturday Omaha as TJ and I fly over to Flight Deck for pizza, fries, and intriguing topping loadouts on burgers. They have quite the marker as they have a plane affixed to the outside of their building, but we landed safely inside. Then we traverse over to the pun filled menu of Paddy McGowans for well…pizza, burgers, and some delicious corned beef. All seats on this flight are first class and the meals are anything but airline food and that ain’t no blarney. So….

Chinnapat Wirachakul of Pla Too Thai

Chinnapat Wirachakul is Chef and Owner of Pla Too Thai at 5092 S 136th St. and I met her food before I met the expert behind the flavors. Chef Wirachakul goes by Pla, the namesake of her restaurant, which means fish and she means care and craft when she is in the kitchen and that expertise makes it your table. Pla and I got to talk all things Thai, handle some misconceptions about this wonderful cuisine, how she adapts to dietary needs and even a tie in to long standing Omaha spot, Laos Thai on 24th and J St.

Isaiah Sheese of Archetype Coffee

My goodness you are in for an excellent show today filled with science, knowledge, and caffeine. We have Isaiah Sheese the owner of Archetype Coffee and coffee competitor on the show. Isaiah arrived at the studio with a surprise and brewed up an elegant cup of rare beans for show consumption and then I proceeded to learn a ton about those tasty little beans. We talk parallels between BBQ and coffee competition, family farms, what water you should use at home for the best cup, and well…we drink coffee. You’re in for a good one so..

Faturday At Caribbean Delights

A long standing Faturday favorite is coming your way this episode with Caribbean Delights at 2304 N 72nd St. While TJ and I are no stranger to this location, this was Danell’s first foray into the flavors owner Hubert is bringing to the table. Things have changed a bit within the restaurant but the classics like Jerk Chicken, Ox Tail, and of course the beef patties are all served with warm temps and warm spices. Jackie Robbins of Rib Shack

"Hi, welcome to Rib Shack!" That is what you might hear when you walk in the doors at 10841 Q St Suite 105 in Omaha and the voice saying that might just be owner and operator Jackie Robbins. Jackie has been through so much in her life, but keeps pushing forward with her signature smile and positive outlook. She and husband Malcolm relocated to Omaha after departing two restaurants in St. Louis, MO. Their ribs and that delicious mac and cheese are here in Omaha and we have Jackie here on the show.

If you’ve been listening to the show for a bit you have heard me say Omaha and elsewhere quite a few times. I’ve eaten at Malara’s over the years as has TJ, but they haven’t been presented within the Faturday Omaha ethos until this episode. We canvassed the menu to present multiple plates to you and we are thankful for the kind service received at the restaurant. We will get into this neighborhood gem serving Omaha diners since 1984 and dig into dishes from Spaghetti and delicious sauce to TJ’s nostalgic take on a salad?

Faturday Omaha At Chaima’s African Cuisine

Tucked away at 5060 S 107th St, Omaha, NE 68127 is Chaima’s African cuisine, and tucked within are very accessible and delicious flavors to delight the senses. It’s been a bit since I’ve walked through these doors though I have been to Chaima’s food truck that you may have seen around town. Since my last visit there have been wonderful updates to the interior of the restaurant, but the flavors are still delivered to the table from a knowledgable hand.
