This episode it’s Food Recognize Food with Travis Liebig and Eric Shew of Sunnyside on Center. This little and delicious gem is located about 35th and Center in Omaha, and that is where our conversation about a mountain of bacon, a giant bratwurst, severe weather, and memories from the past took place. Travis is the co-owner of Sunnyside as well as Project Manager for Evergreen that handles Sunnyside, Site-1 Brewing and the new Bull Moose. Eric is head chef and has brought his past restaurant experience and energy to a fun menu.
There’s a few pizzas in town that always put an extra big smile on my face and Collin Adkisson of Mootz pizza makes one of them. This pie has a huge pizza grip (crust if you’re new to the show) and tasty toppings all out of his double oven afterburner food truck. Collin has worked at places like Via Farina, Dante, and WD Cravings before setting out on his own. He also has a big event coming that we will discuss and even some tips for the home pizza maker!

We’ll see what else is happening there, where Chris and Shannon like to eat, and then stick around for the second half as we talk about food memories, a new restaurant concept, and an adventure in Croatia.

Baked After Dark is located in the Benson area of Omaha and provides late night treats to both travelers and passers by. My personal favorite item there is the soft, delicious, and sufficiently sized cinnamon roll. They have an array of fun cookie flavors from standards like chocolate chip to wonderful creations like the raspberry lemonade. We talk about what’s happening at the bakery, where Sammi and Alex like to eat, and why that chocolate chip cookie is so significant.
